We are the Meister of the European Sausages
Sausage House and Delicatessen Butcher Shop
Welcome to our Sausage Hut, we are the Meister of the European Sausages. Old Werner Muller started the Wursthutte Butcher Shop in Malvern more than 35 years ago. Werner brought his secret Sausage Recipes from Switzerland, his goal was to produce the most authentic European sausages for his Australian customers. His quality standards were extremely high, the Wurst (sausage) needs to be so perfect, that you could sell it in any European Butcher Shop in Zurich, Munich or Vienna.
13 years ago, young Stephan Muller, Werner’s nephew, arrived from Luzern Switzerland to help out his uncle and learn from him. Stephan, a sixth generation Butcher, then became the owner of the Wursthutte and continues the family legacy today in a very competitive market.
With his skills and expertise, he produces quality products that are hard to find anywhere else in Australia, this being the key to his success. Come and try for yourself, our sausages, meat and continental smallgoods are all available in store at Glenferrie Road or order them online through our website.
You don’t need to travel to Europe to get the real Wurst (sausage) experience!
THE BEGINNING
1862

His son Jacques Muller-Honegger built the Orient Express and became the first director of the Oriental Railways in Constantinople (Istanbul). His brother Baptist continued to run the butcher’s shop. Together with his wife, Katharina Muller-Widmer from Buetigen, they brought up their five children Marie, Baptist, Jakob, Robert and Katarina.
3RD GENERATION

After his death, the brothers Jakob and Robert continued to run the business until 1928 when Robert Muller-Ruttimann bought out his brother Jakob and then continued to run the business on his own.

Towards the end of the 1940’s Robert Muller-Barmet took over the butcher’s shop in Eschenbach while his brother Eugen opened the butcher’s shop together with a restaurant, ‘Zum Frieden’, (To Peace). He was very successful. Sister Marie-Louise Meier-Muller took over the farm in Eschenbach. In 1962, one hundred years after the start of the Muller dynasty, Robert together with his wife Gertrud opened the new butcher shop on Bahnofstrasse in Eschenbach. In 2006, his nephew Stephan came to stay with Werner to learn English and to gain experience. After Werner’s death, Stephan bought the ‘Wursthutte’, modernized it and now runs it very successfully as the 6th Muller dynasty.
